Bentsi-Enchill, Letsa & Ankomah advised Access Bank on its IPO and listing on the Ghana Stock Exchange (GSE). In other highlights, it advised Mega African Capital on its rights issue to raise up to GHS16m and on listing its new shares on the GSE. Seth Asante heads the team, which handles all aspects of debt and capital markets work, including private placements.

ENSafrica acts for several prominent domestic and foreign issuers and underwriters, and benefits from a solid relationship with a number of major international law firms. In a significant deal, it acted as local counsel to the joint lead managers – Barclays, Deutsche Bank AG (London branch) and Standard Chartered – on the review of transaction documents, and provided a legal opinion on the government of Ghana’s capacity to issue the bonds. Elikem Nutifafa Kuenyehia and Paa Kwesi Morrison are vastly experienced.

JLD & MB Legal Consultancy, in association with Dentons, acted as local counsel to the government of Ghana in its 2015 sovereign bond issue, valued at $1bn. The transaction was partially guaranteed by the International Development Agency. Merene Botsio Benyah and Victor Anku-Tsede are recommended for their debt and equity work acting for issuers and underwriters.

Fugar & Company is well known in the market for corporate finance and regulatory work, and is frequently instructed by issuers and underwriters on equity and debt issuances. William Fugar is a key figure.
