Ioana Nedelcu
Career
Ioana joined Farringdon Chambers in 2015. Ioana is often described as punching well above her year of call and she is instructed in the most serious offences, with a particular interest in drugs, modern slavery and gang related offences against the person, from firearms to murders.
Recent instructions include large drugs conspiracies, gang related complex murders and firearms offences, modern slavery conspiracies and dishonesty offences (including the high profile Boodles diamonds heist).
Ioana regularly represents vulnerable Defendants who raise defences under s. 45 of the Modern Slavery Act 2015 and she is often instructed for Defendants charged with slavery as well as Respondents to Slavery and Trafficking Risk orders. Ioana also appeared for the Defence in one of the largest modern slavery conspiracies in the UK and the largest in Europe (Operation Fort in 2017).
