Position

Jack focuses on commercial, financial services, product liability, employment, procurement, environmental and public law, and accepts instructions as sole and junior counsel. He acts for claimants and defendants in both individual and group claims.

Career

Jack has experience of a wide range of public and private law matters involving individuals, companies, financial institutions, NGOs and government departments, in line with chambers’ areas of practice.

Recent cases include acting as sole counsel in a £1.5 million product liability claim involving a fire caused by a battery in an electric bike, a discrimination challenge to the methods of assessment and award of a University degree on behalf of a Paralympic athlete, a 4-day constructive dismissal claim on behalf of a psychotherapist who was refused permission by a private hospital to conduct remote consultations in the first national Covid lockdown, and (led) a claim asserting ownership rights in a cryptocurrency and underlying blockchain. He is a frequent contributor to LexisNexis, including as a procurement specialist, and is an editor of Practical Lending and Securities Precedents.

In early 2021 Jack was a Judicial Assistant to the Commercial Court, Queen’s Bench Division and Upper Tax Tribunal. Prior to joining Chambers, he was a Visiting Lecturer in European Law at City Law School and an Editorial Assistant at the Journal of International and Comparative Law.

Before coming to the Bar, he received a Master’s in English literature from the University of Oxford, worked as an editor at an international auction house and at a commercial gallery specialising in Modern British art.
