DLA Piper‘s practice has experience of enforcing and defending arbitral awards in all the main centers of arbitration globally.  Don Rojanapenkul has a focus on arbitrations involving infrastructure and insurance disputes while managing partner, Peter Shelford has a specialism in insurance and reinsurance cases and also handles anti-corruption cases. Senior Consultant Robert Tang handles a variety of disputes in Southeast Asia including high value arbitrations. His focus is on cross-border energy and construction disputes.

DLA Piper‘s dispute resolution practice is prominent in Asia and around the world in multi-party disputes work. This includes insurance claims, real estate litigation and employment disputes. Don Rojanapenkul is experienced in court proceedings and mediations in Thailand while Peter Shelford has a well established practice dealing with insurance, reinsurance and construction matters. Counsel Komson Suntheeraporn handles contentious employment and banking litigation. Senior associate Ekasit Suttawat is active in the Thai market, advising clients in relation to investigation and corporate fraud, as well as construction disputes.

DLA Piper assists its clients in the aviation, shipping, road and rail sectors on matters such as project development, financing and commercial agreements. Peter Shelford is an expert on litigation and international arbitration especially in respect of shipping disputes. The firm has boosted its offering, particularly regarding financing matters, with the hire of Waranon Vanichprapa  and Samata Masagee from Baker McKenzie and Weerawong, Chinnavat & Partners respectively.

DLA Piper possesses a ‘strong team with good technical knowledge’ which works on the labour aspects of corporate transactions, acts on regulatory investigation and immigration issues. Managing partner Peter Shelford acts for multinational clients on employment disputes. His area of focus is advising insurance clients on employment matters. Komson Suntheeraporn handles the non-contentious and disputes sides of employment which includes acting in labour court proceedings as well as labour and employment advisory work. Dusadee Jittasaiyapan  advises clients on employee transfer matters as well as employee terminations, including at management level.


Myanmar > Foreign desks

With core team members based in Bangkok and Singapore, DLA Piper advises international clients on a wide range of matters, including M&A, real estate, dispute resolution and arbitration, and project finance. Additionally, the team continues to conduct high-profile pro bono work. Managing partner Peter Shelford operates out of Thailand, and is an established litigator and arbitrator with particular experience in insurance, reinsurance, and construction. In Singapore, Vincent Seah joined as a partner from Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer in May 2019 and advises on projects and infrastructure for power projects in Myanmar. Mohammed Rakinul Hakim left the firm in early 2021.
