Career

Katarzyna is a partner managing the municipal, land use planning and development law group. She is also the National Real Estate practice group co-leader. She assists landowners in weaving through the approval process for development and redevelopment projects and resolving complex land use issues throughout the province of Ontario. She frequently appears before the Ontario Municipal Board, as well as municipal councils and committees. Katarzyna has acted for development companies, landowner groups, institutions, commercial and retail establishments, restaurants, hotels, builders and homeowners on official plan, zoning, subdivision, severance, variance and site plan matters. She has also acted as project manager on larger development projects. Katarzyna has negotiated and drafted a variety of development agreements including Section 37 Agreements, Site Plan Agreements, Reciprocal Agreements and Tieback, Encroachment and Crane Swing Agreements.

Other key figures include Jillian Shortt, who operates out of the Toronto and Calgary offices and who assists with the creation of single and two-tier joint venture structures and limited partnerships.
