Career

Christina Maria Schwaiger joined the TMC-Technology, Media & Telecommunications Team in 2019.  She specializes in various areas, including data protection, cybersecurity, AI regulation, IT law, e-commerce and commercial. Before joining CMS, she gained valuable experience working for the Austrian Data Protection Authority and the European Data Protection Board, where she focused on procedural matters (e.g. complaint procedures, notifications of data breaches as well as administrative criminal proceedings).

In her work as a lawyer, Schwaiger also deals with the areas of e-marketing and social media, which are increasingly influenced by regulations. In particular, she focuses on new regulations such as the Digital Markets Act, the Digital Service Act and the Data Act.

During her studies, Schwaiger worked as a research assistant at the Institute for Public Law, European Law and International Law at the University of Salzburg, focusing on data protection and IT law. She regularly lectures on relevant topics, is a lecturer at the Danube University Krems in the course “Data Protection and Privacy” and is a certified trainer for the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP).
