Career
George Kontakis is a NY litigation partner and member of K&L Gates’ Maritime Group. His broad practice encompasses commercial and criminal maritime matters, including MARPOL investigations, arbitration, charter party disputes, P&I and FD&D matters, collisions, spills and casualties, vessel sales, insurance coverage, OFAC and attachment and arrest proceedings. He regularly provides advice to worldwide clients in all aspects of complex criminal, civil, and environmental maritime matters. He has significant experience with onboard investigations relating to the USCG and DOJ. He has recently closed nearly $500M in vessel and yacht transactions.
