Career

Practices since 1992. He began his professional career in the Órgano Judicial (Judicial Branch), holding several positions during the 23 years of public service, until becoming a member of the Judicial Career as a judge of the Civil Circuit of Panama. Jorge’s professional experience is essential to appear in civil and commercial litigations before the courts of ordinary justice and the national and international arbitration jurisdiction, especially in the areas of contracts in general, insurance and bonds, as well as in the administrative contentious jurisdiction at Tribunal de Contrataciones Públicas (Public Procurement Court).

He has also served as a professor in Procedural Law and Civil Procedural Law, and as a professor of Master in Commercial Law.

He is the author and has been an exhibitor of several essays such as Company Bankruptcies in Panama (practical and legal aspects)The Right to Accrete and SubstitutionsSecond Hearing EvidenceExtracontractual Civil ResponsibilityThe Civil StandardTowards Orality in The Panamanian Civil Procedure, and The Civil Responsibility of Stockholders in Company Bankruptcies, which have been presented both in seminars and national and international conferences.

He has also carried out university expansion studies such as diplomas and seminars, on banking operations and new trends in Procedural Law.
