Position

Christopher Hilditch is a partner in the Investment Management Group at Schulte Roth & Zabel. He serves as co-head and co-founding partner of the firm’s London office. With 25 years of experience advising many of the highest profile hedge funds, Chris focuses his practice on entrepreneurial and institutional investment managers, other financial services firms and investment funds, especially hedge funds, hybrid funds, co-investment funds and distressed funds. He provides practical and strategic advice on the structuring and operation of funds and investment managers, including fundraising, investor issues, investment transactions and financing as well as regulatory and compliance matters.

Recently, Chris was invited to be the general editor of the Chambers Alternative Funds Guide 2019 — a guide examining key industry trends and regulatory and tax matters impacting funds, managers and investors. He has also authored a chapter on “Conflicts of Interest” in Investment Management, Law and Practice (Oxford University Press) and co-authored a chapter on “United Kingdom Considerations” in Hedge Funds: Formation, Operation and Regulation (ALM Law Journal Press).

Described as ‘exceptional for hedge fund formation matters,’ Schulte Roth & Zabel International LLP‘s London team works alongside the firm’s New York and Washington offices to advise on complex cross-border funds matters. The practice assists both established players and new entrants to the hedge fund space on the creation of novel investment vehicles targetting a range of asset classes, including fintech, cryptocurrencies and other digital assets. Jointly heading the team are Josh Dambacher, whose practice encompasses the structuring of seed capital investments and funds themselves, and Christopher Hilditch, who advises on the structuring of funds, fund transactions and investor issues. Lee Smith also advises on the structuring of funds, with particular strength in launching European funds in addition to assisting funds going through restructuring. Special counsel Amy MacDonagh advises on the launch, operation and restructuring of hedge funds, while fellow special counsel Drew Miller focuses on compliance, advising on US and European securities law.
