Position

Myria Saarinen is a partner in the Litigation & Trial Department of Latham & Watkins’ Paris office. Her practice focuses on complex commercial litigation, data privacy, and compliance. She is the Global Co-Chair of the Technology Industry Group.

Ms. Saarinen’s practice focuses on resolving a broad range of complex disputes through litigation proceedings, mostly in an international context and in various areas of business (healthcare, aeronautics, information technology, construction works, insurance, etc.). She is very active in litigation relating to major industrial operations and is involved in a broad range of general commercial disputes (contract and liability) and corporate litigation.

Ms. Saarinen has expertise on cross-border issues raised in connection with Discovery and similar requests in France. In addition, she has developed specific expertise, for 20 years now, in the privacy/personal data area, advising international clients. She supports her clients in their compliance program regarding the GDPR. She is also active in the corporate governance and compliance area and assists clients in drafting and implementing grant of powers, delegation of liability, and other compliance schemes.

Latham & Watkins represents a range of clients, including leading investment funds and accounting firms, leading pharmaceutical and biotech companies as well as an array of French and international companies. The team handles commercial and corporate disputes, including M&A-related cases and shareholder conflicts. It is also regularly appointed to assist with French discovery procedures (article 145) notably in relation to allegations of trade secret misappropriation. The Paris team also represents clients in resisting requests made by US authorities to communicate information. Fabrice Fages and Myria Saarinen head the practice, with counsel Elise Auvray providing key support.

Latham & Watkins  traite de nombreux litiges commerciaux, se rapportant notamment aux secteurs de l’informatique et de la santé. Le cabinet gère également des contentieux dits corporate et de haut de bilan. Il a ainsi représenté un fonds d’investissement dans la gestion d’un litige complexe, ayant des liens avec une grande opération de fusion-acquisition du marché français. L’équipe assiste aussi des cabinets d’audit confrontés à des procédures disciplinaires découlant de dossiers de procédures collectives. L’équipe a aussi récemment conseillé ses clients sur leur stratégie contentieuse, concernant leurs difficultés d’approvisionnement en composants électroniques, notamment dans le secteur automobile. Enfin, la pratique couvre les recours indemnitaires initiés suite à des  condamnations en droit de la concurrence, et les procédures de médiation. La pratique est codirigée par  Fabrice Fages et Myria Saarinen . Ils sont entourés d’ Elise Auvray qui a été promue counsel en 2021.
