Álvaro Durán Leal, managing partner of the firm, held positions such as legal director of the National Rehabilitation Management Plan in the Presidency of Colombia, legal advisor of the Infrastructure and Energy Unit in the National Planning Department (DNP), legal advisor of the investment banking area of Corporación Financiera del Valle (nowadays known as Corficolombiana), within others. He has been recognized by Chambers & Partners as one of the best lawyers in public law and by Legal 500 as Colombia´s lawyer of the year (2020) in project finance and development practice.

He has lead the legal advisory of some of the most relevant projects in the country, related to roads, airports, rails, TMT, public utilities, public finance. Within this experience, it is notable his participation in the structuring of Bogotá’s First Metro Line, the city’s most ambitious infrastructure project in Colombia´s history, in the 4G road concession project in Colombia, the concession of the second runway of El Dorado Airport, the PPP to construct and maintain the infrastructure for the Bus Rapid Transit of Bogotá City (Transmilenio) and the concession of the terminals and aprons of El Dorado Airport. Mr. Durán was also hired by the World Bank to review the amendments made to the Peruvian PPP Law and to accompany them during this process. Álvaro has also been active in litigation and dispute resolution relating to infrastructure projects and financial matters.

Also, he has extensive experience in dispute resolution, such as the legal defense of Telecom (a public entity) in disputes arisen from joint venture agreements; in M&A, such as the legal advice provided during the merger of Telecom and Movistar; and several projects of electric transmission.

Speaker at numerous events and forums related to transport and infrastructure. Álvaro has also been professor of public contracts in Universidad Externado de Colombia and professor of the new system of PPP in Universidad de Los Andes.
