Career

Martín works in domestic and international arbitrations, administered by the ICC, the PCA and the Arbitration Center of the Uruguay Chamber of Commerce, in commercial and investment-related matters. He represents clients in the gas distribution business, construction conglomerates, and mining and software companies, among others.

Between mid-2016 to mid-2018, Martín worked as an associate at Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer in New York, as a member of their International Arbitration team. At Freshfields, Martín worked on some of the most important disputes in South America, representing foreign investors in investment and commercial arbitrations administered by the ICSID and the PCA. He worked in cases involving a wide range of industries, including oil, telecommunications, agribusiness and food distribution, among others.

He was an assistant professor in the Arbitration course of the Master of Law degree of Universidad de la República and taught arbitration and international trade at the Universidad de Montevideo. He is part of the International Commercial Arbitration team of the Universidad de Montevideo and has participated in various academic competitions both as a student and as a professor.
