Career
John McElroy heads up London’s Commercial Disputes team and is a force in the development of the practice. He has worked on a range of Commercial Litigation and Arbitration matters – often international – with an emphasis on Financial Services Disputes. He has extensive experience of acting for and against groups of claimants. John has close relationships with a wide range of third-party funders, insurers and brokers.
He has been the Partner responsible for a number of The Lawyer’s Top 20 cases over the last few years. He has also more recently acted for New Balance in its sponsorship agreement dispute with Liverpool FC as well a number of private equity houses in disputes ranging from claims for professional negligence to breach of warranty. John is also currently acting on a number of international arbitrations before the ICC and LCIA among other arbitral forums and is due to be in a Commercial Court trial for two weeks in 2023 in a foreign exchange trading dispute.
John is an Executive Committee Member of the London Solicitors Litigation Association (LSLA) and a Committee Member of Co-Operation Ireland’s London Legal Group.
