Karim Nassar and Robert Eastwood are acting for Samba Capital, as underwriter, in relation to Leejam Sports Company's IPO of 30% share capital. On the issuer side, Bilal Kahlon assisted Saudi Investment Bank with the establishment of its capital sukuk programme and subsequently advised the client on a SAR1bn sukuk issuance. Al-Ajlan & Partners in association with Baker & McKenzie Limited is regularly involved in major domestic and cross-border M&A and high-value commercial agreements. Mohammad Al Rasheed and Karim Nassar advised Alawwal Bank on its share for share merger with the Saudi British Bank; valued at $4.9 billion, the merger created what is now the third largest bank in Saudi Arabia. The practice also advised an Al Faisaliah Group company on its sale of shares in Al Saifi Danone to Saudi Arabia's National Agricultural Development Co. Also recommended are George Sayen, who heads the practice group, and Omar J. Iqbal, who was promoted to partner in July 2018.

  • The New Turkish Code of Obligations: Important Changes for Leases of Residential & Business Premises

    For decades, the primary Turkish laws governing leases of residential and business premises have been the Law on Leasing Real Property dated May 27, 1955 (the “Lease Law”) and the Turkish Code of Obligations No. 818 dated April 22, 1926 (the “Obligations Code”). Both of these laws, however, will be repealed and replaced with the new Turkish Code of Obligations No. 6098 dated January 11, 2011 (the “New Obligations Code”), which will enter into force on July 7, 2012.
