Career

Ana Cristina Müller is an engineer, partner at BMA and head of the Patent and Design practice. She specializes in developing and executing worldwide patent and industrial design strategies and patent portfolio management for a wide range of clients – from chemical industries to telecommunication conglomerates – and does significant work in complex patent litigation involving subject matters such as video compression, standard essential patents, civil industry equipments and genetic engineering.

Ana files and prosecutes patent applications and advises clients on freedom-to-operate analyses, prepares validity and infringement opinions and assists clients in post-allowance actions. She has earned a reputation as successful patent prosecutor. Ana also conducts due diligence in investment and acquisition contexts, helping clients to decide on the best strategy to pursue.

A frequent participant and speaker at intellectual property seminars and meetings in Brazil and abroad, Ana Cristina is currently a member of the Board of Directors of the ABPI – Brazilian Intellectual Property Association and co-chair of ABPI New Technologies Committee (Telecom, Software, AI, IoT).

Ana has also written several articles on patents and is co-author of Patents in Biotechnology – A Practical Guide for Drafters of Patent Applications, published by the Brazilian Corporation of Agricultural Research.
