Position

Partner, Ros, has a broad and established disciplinary practice. She advises a variety of statutory and non-statutory bodies on all aspects of disciplinary and regulatory matters, and utilises her extensive experience of governance, vires and information law to ensure that clients receive a first class service at all times.

Ros began her career in local government, gaining a firm founding in public law and governance. Ros expanded upon this experience to become expert in disciplinary law, working as Head of Fitness to Practise Legal Services at the General Dental Council. Ros then moved back into private practice, continuing to combine her public law and disciplinary practices. She was involved in a number of high profile judicial review challenges, including acting for Sharon Shoesmith in the Baby P litigation.

Since joining Browne Jacobson LLP, Ros has worked hard to enhance the firm’s disciplinary practice in London, securing instructions from the Professional Standards Authority (the super-regulator of all healthcare regulators), the Human Fertilisation and Embryology Authority, the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors and the Chartered Institute of Building. Using her public law and governance experience, Ros has recently assisted two professional Institutes with governance matters and rules reviews.

Ros acts in a number of high profile matters, including the Court of Appeal case of Dr Hadiza Bawa-Garba that was heard in August 2018. Ros regularly speaks at disciplinary law conferences and has had articles published in Judicial Review on related matters.  She has written a chapter on the Performers List regime for the next edition of The Law of Healthcare Regulation, Glynn & Gomez (7th Ed).

University of Birmingham (1993 LLB (Hons) Bachelor of Law); De Montfort University, Leicester (2003 LPC; won the Law Society Award for Outstanding Performance on the Legal Practice Course in July 2003).
