Position

Partner in the trusts department specialising in trusts, banking and general company/commercial matters, particularly involving advising leading fiduciary service providers on the establishment and operation of trusts and companies, advising on transactions involving Guernsey companies and advising banks on lending transactions and security.

Career

Simon advises leading local fiduciary companies on all aspects of Guernsey trusts and issues relating to their underlying corporate structures. He is also an expert on the customary law of Guernsey and has written many articles.
Publications include: ‘Disclosure of confidential information under Guernsey law’ (‘Guernsey Law Journal’); ‘Taking security over intangible personal property under Guernsey law’ (‘Journal of International Banking Law’); and ‘The New Guernsey Trusts – Law Changes to the Position of Trustees’ (‘Trusts & Trustees’).

Council member Guernsey International Business Association 1996-99 and 2002-2004; president Young Business Group of Guernsey; Chamber of Commerce 1997-98; secretary to Guernsey Bar Council 1997-99; president Guernsey Chamber of Commerce 2001-03; current member of the States of Guernsey Legislation Select Committee and the States of Guernsey Inheritance Law Review Committee, current Vice-Chairman of the Guernsey Financial Services Commission.
