With over 17 years’ experience in Ogier Guernsey’s corporate and banking and finance teams, Michaela Jesson advises on a wide range of corporate, regulatory and banking matters, predominantly of a multi-jurisdictional nature.

Michaela has extensive experience advising on corporate, regulatory and banking matters, predominantly of a multi-jurisdictional nature. She has been recommended in editions of The Legal 500 for commercial and banking work in Guernsey.

Michaela is part of Ogier’s multi-jurisdictional Private Equity team. She specialises in advice in relation to subscription credit and capital call facilities and hybrid and net asset value credit facilities entered into by funds and borrowing and guaranteeing provisions in fund constitutional documents as well as the ability to grant security. She also has experience in fund formation and capital raising and advising on ongoing fund operations including regulatory compliance.

Michaela received her Bachelor of Commerce and Bachelor of Laws from the University of Auckland in 2000. Michaela was admitted as a Barrister and Solicitor of the High Court of New Zealand in September 2000 and a Solicitor of England and Wales in July 2007 and previously worked for a leading New Zealand law firm. She joined Ogier in March 2003. Michaela returned to New Zealand in December 2008 and works on a remote basis.

Described by one client as ‘practical in its approach,’ the team at Ogier assists clients with a range of financing matters, notably acquisition, real estate and fund financing, as well as restructuring and enforcement issues. Christopher Jones co-leads the practice, advising on cross-border finance transactions, including those which require Sharia compliance; high yield bonds; and regulatory matters. Paul Chanter acts as the group’s other co-lead, and is particularly noted for advising on leveraged finance matters.
