Nicholas PlowmanOgier

The ‘very capable, responsive and user-friendly’ team at Ogier has excellent traction in Greater China and throughout Asia Pacific, and provides ‘high-quality legal advice’ on the BVI and Cayman Island considerations to clients across a broad range of transactional and litigation work. Leveraging strong language skills and capability on the ground in Beijing and Shanghai, the firm is particularly effective at advising PRC clients across a range of corporate and securities work, including advice on ECM and DCM listings on the HKSE. In this context, the ‘commercial, proactive and responsive’ Nathan Powell has recently handled some liability management work for beleaguered PRC property issues, as well as handling a considerable volume of de-SPAC-related M&A activity. Able to read and speak Chinese, Anthony Oakes is well-placed to advise Chinese clients and provides ‘hands on, experienced and practical’ advice across a range of banking and finance mandates, including non-contentious corporate restructuring. Investment funds work remains the jewel in the firm’s crown, however, and under the guidance of the vastly experienced Nicholas Plowman, the office continues to advise Asian and international fund managers, including within the private equity and hedge fund space, across a range of fund formation, regulatory and investment matters. Kate Hodson is also well regarded within the asset management space and has a particular niche advising on Sustainable Investing and Impact funds. Drawing upon his ‘vast tactical and strategic insight’, Oliver Payne is well-positioned to provide Cayman Island and BVI litigation advice, including as it relates to winding-up proceedings and minority shareholder disputes. Of the more junior partners, David Nelson provides ‘knowledgeable, diligent and hands-on’ advice on take-private financing, acquisition financing and debt financing.
