Darren focuses on all aspects of UK ‘HR’ law/compensation and benefits, as well as European co-ordination and cross-border work. He represents businesses, with particular expertise in the financial services sector. Examples of Darren’s work include: successfully defending an international bank in the High Court against a high profile bonus dispute brought by a trader; advising Belkin on the EU employment law aspects of its acquisition of Linksys from Cisco; leading the employment law team advising on the Lehman Brothers insolvency in Europe; successfully representing a City hedge fund on appeal, in a whistle-blowing claim brought by an equities dealer; advising a UK bank on the roll-out of a comprehensive salary sacrifice programme for circa 60,000 employees; advising on the largest-ever international roll-out of FCA-compliant bonus scheme rules for an international bank, across more than 60 countries; defending a German bank against a claim of discrimination in the Employment Tribunal; leading the European employment law team on a global demerger and separate listing. Darren hosts seminars and provides training on all aspects of employment law.


Darren has practised in Australia, Hong Kong and the UK. Prior to joining the firm in September 2012, he worked at magic circle firm Linklaters and was the Head of the UK Employment Law practice at US firm Bryan Cave. In 2012 Darren was awarded the International Law Office Client Choice Award for leading UK Counsel. Prior to this, he has also been ranked first in a three-year survey of leading European M&A employment lawyers by the publication ‘Mergermarket’.     In recent years, the country ŐĀs the government has been committed to improving Taxation in Nicaragua and attempting to follow the legislative model used by some of the other countries in the region. Starting January 1st, 2013, a new tax law (Law No. 822, Tax Concertation Law) came into force in and completely changed the taxation system in Nicaragua. Two years later a new law was issued by the National Assembly containing more than 80 amendments, additions and repeals (Law No 891) which came into force December 18th, 2014.
