Career

Caloy joined the firm as a Senior Associate in 2018. Recently, Caloy was promoted as partner of Gulapa Law’s Manila office after almost 10 years in practice, heading the Litigation and Dispute Resolution Department. He leads Gulapa Law’s lawyers in dispute resolution matters such as appellate practice, commercial litigation, labor litigation, civil litigation, criminal litigation, pro bono work, and commercial arbitration. 

After assuming his role as head of Gulapa Law’s Litigation and Dispute Resolution department, Caloy became instrumental in developing Gulapa Law’s practice, and enabling the firm to receive awards and recognition from international publications such as Legal500, In-House Community Awards, and Asian Legal Business, in this area.  He is currently involved in an important arbitration involving a Philippine claimant under the UNCITRAL rules, several infrastructure litigation cases, construction arbitration cases, and government procurement litigation before Philippine Courts. Caloy’s significant contributions to the firm include several favorable decisions for Gulapa Law’s clients which showcased his impeccable strategy and well-rounded approach to the cases.

Alongside being a litigator, Caloy is presently a lecturer at the Ateneo de Manila University School of Law. Caloy is also a member and trained arbitrator of the Philippine Dispute Resolution Center, Inc.
