Mr. Tran Gia The, in co-operation with other partners, established ATS Law Firm. He takes a position of the Chairman and Managing Partner of ATS Law Firm, who shall manage operation and practice of the firm national wide. He has nearly 14 years experience working at Director level in prestigious law and accounting firms such as VILAF – Hong Duc, Kelvin Chia Partnership, KPMG Vietnam and Ernst & Young Vietnam. He has advised in the areas of corporate governance and restructuring, taxation, banking and finance, international trade, foreign investment, project transfer and inbound market entry; negotiation, execution of international trade contracts, loan agreements, franchising agreements, technology transfer contracts, Intellectual Property license agreements. On behalf of his clients, he has presented and protected their benefit in several lawsuit cases with foreign capital at Vietnamese Court and Arbitration litigation, awards enforcement processes in Vietnam.

    On 6/20/2012, the National Assembly voted to adopt the Law on Price (the "LOP") in response to the public demand for an effective legal framework to control price manipulation from dominant enterprises such as gasoline, electricity, etc. The law will take effect from 01/01/2013 and repeal Ordinance No. 40/2002/PL-UBTVQH10 dated 26/4/2002 of the National Assembly Standing Committee (the "Ordinance"), which is conceived as outdated and containing certain provisions contravening the WTO’s regulation. This article describes the main features of the law and provides some insight into its potential impacts on the Vietnamese economy.
