Position

Paul is head of trethowans South Coast commercial property team. Paul has a wide range of experience in both commercial and residential development including acting for national and regional house builders, housing associations and landowners. He regularly deals with conditional contracts, options, mixed use development schemes, associated planning and infrastructure agreements and the sale and purchase of multi-let investment properties. Paul also has a regional reputation in acting for banks in substantial and involved property finance matters.

Trethowans LLP's dedicated banking team handles a range of matters, from acquisition finance mandates for lenders and investors, property and development finance, and agricultural finance transactions. Recent highlights include advising the borrower in a series of development loan facilities, assisting an international car parts manufacturer with an $18.5m facility to finance its management buyout, and acting for Bank of Scotland on a £5m term loan facility and £1m revolving credit facility provided to Ceuta Holdings. Sophie Eales heads the banking practice, which includes Nick Gent and property finance specialists Paul Longman and David Jones.

At Trethowans LLP, Garry Treagust jointly heads the team with Paul Longman, who focuses on property finance. The group acted for Rowanmoor Trustees on the purchase of three commercial units, which involved a complicated restructuring of the legal title, as well as handling leasing matters and borrowing issues involving several parties, including a pension fund. Other work includes assisting with residential developments, landlord and tenant matters, and related restructuring work. The team was bolstered by the arrival of Biddy Walker , who joined from Irwin Mitchell, Juliet Biddle, who joined from Bevan Brittan LLP and Madeleine Tovey, who was a new arrival from Macfarlanes LLP. Other key practitioners include Elizabeth Bryson and Caroline Probert.
