Position

Evelyne Friedel has been a member of the Paris Bar since 1992. Since 2008, Evelyne has been a partner in Taylor Wessing’s Paris office, where she heads two departments: “Commercial, Competition, Distribution” and “Life Sciences”.

Experienced in contract law and in commercial law, Evelyne drafts and analyses R&D, license, distribution, agency agreements, and all types of commercial agreements.

As a specialist in European and competition law, Evelyne ensures that said agreements comply with competition rules.

Evelyne also deals with notifications of mergers and acquisitions and handles competition cases, before the European Commission and the French Competition Authority.

Evelyne handles settlements and litigations relating to unfair competition, restrictive and anti-competitive practices, contract termination and product liability at the national and international levels. She represents clients before civil and commercial courts.

Evelyne also assists clients in the context of their general compliance policy, particularly with regard to anti-corruption rules. As such, she is involved in the development of their risk mapping, handles the training of their employees and drafts their compliance programs.

In the Life Sciences sector, Evelyne has developed since the beginning of her career, an expertise on regulatory and compliance issues for the pharmaceutical and medical industry law (marketing authorisations, market access, clinical research agreements, relationships between the industry and medical practitioners, etc.).

Career

Evelyne Friedel started her career with Hyman Phelps & McNamara in 1989, a major food & drug law firm of Washington DC. She then worked for 16 years at the Paris offices of Siméon & Associés, Lovells and Jones Day.

Admitted to the Paris Bar in 1992, Evelyne has also a Doctor of Laws degree obtained at the University of Paris II). Also a Master II degree in EU Law (University Paris II), a Master II degree in International Trade Law (University Paris I) and a Master of Laws (LLM) in Common Law Studies (Georgetown University, Washington D.C.). Since 2000, Evelyne is appointed Specialist in Commercial, Business and Distribution Law before the Paris Bar.

Evelyne has lectured for several years at the University Paris (Panthéon Assas) and at the Institute of Political Studies of Paris (Sciences Po) and at the Ecole Supérieure de Commerce of Clermont Ferrand. Evelyne regularly publishes articles in the field of competition, regulatory and distribution law.
