Position

Celia Jenkins joined Tuli & Co in 2006 and heads the Firm’s non-contentious practice. She has over 16 years of experience and specialises in product development, insurance regulatory advisory and corporate commercial work for insurers, reinsurers and insurance intermediaries, as well as general clients.

Celia also assists insurers and insurance intermediaries in dealing with disciplinary actions by the insurance regulator and has also assisted insurers with strategy advice and the regulatory process for appeal before the Securities Appellate Tribunal (SAT).  In addition, she advises overseas reinsurers and Indian financial companies on a range of corporate issues in relation to investments in the insurance space and also advises clients on restructuring options, foreign direct investment issues and joint ventures in the insurance and financial space.  Celia has also been involved in assisting reinsurers in setting up branch offices in India.

Celia has been recognised as a leading practitioner for insurance law in India for the past several years by The Legal 500 and Chambers and Partners.  Indian Business Law Journal (2019 edition) states that she knows the ins and outs of “not just the legal and regulatory framework of matters, but also the practical aspects of many industry practices and unwritten rules”.  She is ranked in the category of “Leading Individuals” in the latest issue of The Legal 500, Asia Pacific (2022) and as a Band 2 lawyer in the latest Chambers and Partners, Asia-Pacific (2023).  Clients describe her as having “hands-on insurance expertise” (The Legal 500, Asia Pacific, 2018) and “approachable, quick and clear in her advice and turnaround time…” (Chambers and Partners, Asia Pacific, 2023).
