Career

Suhas is a Senior Partner in the Firm and a founding member of the Firm’s Bangalore office. After graduating with a B.A, LL.B. (Hons) degree from the prestigious National Law School of India University, Bangalore (NLSIU), he was called to the Bar in the year 1999.

Suhas does substantial work as part of the Firm’s Technology Law Practice and the Bangalore office. He represents some of the largest hardware and software companies in the world with regard to their operations in India. In particular, he has been responsible for assisting clients in setting up very large software development, R&D, engineering design, back office and BPO operations in India for both IT companies and conglomerates.

Suhas handles large real estate projects of clients. In addition to Bangalore (and the State of Karnataka), Suhas has handled large real estate projects all over the country including in the NCR area, in the cities of Pune, Hyderabad, Chennai, Coimbatore, etc.  Suhas only represents acquirors of real estate both leasing and outright purchase.  He has extensive experience in carrying out due diligence/title checks and documentation and has worked against almost every single major developer / builder in India. Clients rely and value Suhas’ risk mitigation advise in acquiring real estate and navigating complex Indian regulations related thereto.

Advising employers and management on Labour and Employment laws is another key practice area for Suhas. His work encompasses advisory, review of client employment policies and documents, preparing and reviewing client communications with statutory authorities, overseeing litigation with employees and most importantly, advising on risk mitigation steps.  In the last few years, Suhas has extensively advised clients on closure of operations/factories, reduction in force exercises, obtaining labour department approvals relating thereto as well as leading discussions on behalf of management with trade unions and employee representatives.

Suhas also has strong experience in joint ventures, technical collaborations, mergers and acquisitions and strategic investments in the information technology, manufacturing, automobile and biotech industries. His work has included structuring, due diligence, advice on regulatory and anti-trust approvals, contract preparation and negotiations.
