Career

Mr. Choon Won Lee is a partner in the Maritime & Aviation Team at Jipyong and advises and specializes in maritime, insurance and international trade.

Mr. Lee has extensive experience in litigations and arbitrations related to carriage of cargo, chartering, shipbuilding, and investigation and handling of maritime disasters, such as collision of vessels, ship fire and oil pollution both domestically and internationally.

Mr. Lee also possesses vast experience in dispute resolutions related to ship financing, aviation, product liability and media. He has handled various noteworthy shipping and maritime matters such as the Hyundai Fortune case, one of the largest casualty cases in the international shipping circle. In this case, he successfully persuaded the Korean court to dismiss all the claims brought against the vessel owners, including cargo claims of around USD500 million.

Mr. Lee is a member of the Korean Bar and has a LL.M in maritime law from the University of Southampton and a LL.B from Korea Maritime and Ocean University.
