Position

Mei Lin is a senior partner of the firm and heads the Loan & Debt Restructuring department. She has over 30 years of experience in the areas of banking, debt restructuring, corporate, real estate and commercial transactions. Her experience in banking covers a broad range of banking transactions including bilateral and syndicated loans, club deals, security sharing arrangements, infrastructure and project financing, ship financing, off-shore and cross border loan transactions. She also advises and acts for banks, bondholders, trustees, agent banks in complex debt restructurings, formal schemes of arrangement under Section 176 of the Companies Act 1965, debt restructuring schemes under the Corporate Debt Restructuring Committee of Bank Negara Malaysia (CDRC) and work-outs under Special Administrators appointed pursuant to the Pengurusan Danaharta Nasional Berhad Act 1998.
Mei Lin has extensive experience in acting for buyers and sellers of non-performing loans (NPLs) and has been involved in all aspects of the transaction from both the buyer’s and the seller’s perspective including the due diligence and bidding process, advising and structuring the special purpose vehicle to acquire the NPLs, drafting and reviewing the sale and purchase agreement, regulatory compliance, vesting and transfer of the NPLs and post-acquisition work. She regularly advises and acts in sale and purchase transactions involving shares of companies, office and commercial buildings, data centre, development land, industrial buildings and residential properties, joint venture development projects, receivership and liquidator sales and sales by public auctions and open tenders.

Career

Mei Lin completed the Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice course in 1988 and gained admission to the Supreme Court of South Australia in the same year. Thereafter, she practised for a short period in Adelaide before returning to Malaysia in the following year. Mei Lin was admitted to the Malaysian Bar in 1989 and joined the firm in the same year as an associate. She became a partner in 1996.

Education
