Laura Brown
Work Department
Family and Matrimonial
Position
Laura advises on all aspects of family law with particular expertise in divorce, financial remedy including cross-jurisdictional and substantial complex asset cases, pre- and post-nuptial agreements, cohabitation and unmarried parents and children cases involving complex matters such as parental alienation, relocation and domestic abuse. She also has experience of acting for trustees (often in relation to offshore trusts) and settlors in matrimonial proceedings and advising lawyers in other jurisdictions in respect of English legal principles.
As a trained collaborative lawyer and qualified Resolution mediator, Laura is well placed to help clients work towards a solution without the need to go to court and often works with couples in mediation to find common ground with the aim of reaching a settlement acceptable to both parties which can then be formalised by a court order.
Career
Laura Brown qualified as a solicitor in 2003. Prior to joining Keystone Law, she worked at the following firms:
- KMJ
- Forsters
- Hughes Fowler Carruthers

The family department at Keystone Law ‘is hugely experienced and it has drawn well-known practitioners from magic circle firms and built an impressive team of brilliant and expert family specialists’. Among its leading lights are Susan Apthorp, Claire O’Flinn, and Carolyn Bottomley. The group often advises high-profile and celebrity clients, and through Richard Collins, it also offers niche expertise in cases involving addiction, bipolar depression, and behavioural difficulties. Notable new arrivals include Laura Brown, who joined the practice from Ketley Miller Joels Ltd in April 2023, and Grainne Fahy – ‘a superb family lawyer‘ – who joined the group from Clyde & Co in June 2023.
