Henrik Nedergaard Thomsen is a leading practitioner, focused on complex corporate and commercial disputes and other contentious matters, including cross border disputes.

Henrik is sought-after by household name clients in the Danish and international insurance industry and Danish public authorities.

Henrik’s wide range of experience and expertise spans instructions as counsel in litigation in all levels of courts, including 150+ Danish Supreme Court cases, instructions as counsel and appointments as arbitrator in Danish and international arbitrations under the auspices of different ad hoc and institutional rules, and mediation in relation to both litigation and arbitration.

Henrik advises insurers on complex disputes as coverage, defence, or monitoring counsel across all major business lines, including financial and professional lines (PI, SPPI, D&O, E&O, good business practice), property (energy, offshore, infrastructure, CAR), recall and product liability, contractual liability, public law and administrative liability, climate change and natural hazards risk, and the National Indemnity.

In addition, Henrik advises clients on insurance regulatory issues regarding product development (IPID, policy wording) and corporate insurance matters (IDD, insurance distribution, white label and embedded insurance), primarily in relation to Danish and European law.

For two decades, before joining Neugebauer Clan, Henrik was a partner of the law firm Poul Schmith (the legal advisor to the Danish Government), where he headed the Insurance team and co-headed the Dispute Resolution practice.

Henrik holds various positions of trust e.g., appointed external examiner at the mandatory bar exam by the Council of the Danish Bar and Law Society, and chairs the board of N. Zahles Skole, a leading Danish private primary, lower secondary and upper secondary school.

Henrik is author and co-author of Danish and international articles on dispute resolution and insurance.
