Career
Siong Sie is a chartered accountant with a prior tenure in PwC Malaysia and Tesco Malaysia. He was called to the Malaysian Bar in 2014. Siong Sie completed his pupillage in Skrine and was a partner of its Tax and Revenue practice group when he left in 2020 to set up Khong Partnership with Kevin Wong Gia Meng, which merged with the firm in 2021.
Siong Sie has assisted local and international clients on all tax and revenue law aspects, including direct and indirect taxes, tax planning and incentives, withholding tax and double taxation treaties, real property gains tax, stamp duty and customs duty. Key industries his clients are active in include manufacturing, plantation, energy, property, automotive, shipping, and insurance. Siong Sie has experience in competition and antitrust law. He offers advisory services, compliance audits and legal representation in competition law investigations and disputes.
Siong Sie is ranked in the Chambers Asia-Pacific 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023 and 2024 for Tax in Malaysia and recognised in the Legal 500 Asia Pacific 2023 in Tax.
He has appeared before all levels of courts in Malaysia. He frequently represents taxpayers in dealings with the Inland Revenue Board, the Royal Malaysian Customs Department, and the Ministry of Finance. He receives regular invitations to speak at international law conferences, notably those organised by the Inter-Pacific Bar Association.
