Valikhan Shaikenov, as a co-founding partner of Tukulov Kassilgov Shaikenov Litigation & Arbitration (TKS), together with his partners leads the first specialized and largest dispute resolution practice in Kazakhstan, with a strategic focus on Central Asia. Specializing in civil law, civil procedure, and international commercial and investment arbitration, Valikhan plays a key role in the firm’s commitment to delivering exceptional legal services in the field of dispute resolution. His diverse expertise encompasses areas such as construction, international supply of goods, energy projects, oil and gas, shareholder disputes, debt restructuring, professional negligence, derivative transactions, insolvency, rehabilitation, tax litigation, and sovereign immunity.

Valikhan is a delegate to the ICC Commission on Arbitration and ADR, appointed by ICC Ukraine. Additionally, he serves as the co-chair of the KazBar Arbitration and Litigation Committee. He has received appointments under the LCIA, SCC, and UNCITRAL Rules, participating in arbitrations in diverse locations such as London, Geneva, Stockholm, Washington, D.C., and Astana. These cases involved different legal systems, including English, Swiss, New York, and Kazakh law, with parties from the UK, Switzerland, Spain, the US, Uzbekistan, and Kazakhstan. With a legal practice spanning 19 years, Valikhan has excelled as a transactional lawyer, counsel in litigation and arbitration, and a respected law expert.

The dispute resolution-focused firm is present on matters pertaining to complex commercial, corporate litigation and insolvency, tax and customs litigation and IP and IT litigation. The team has also handled cases in the AIFC jurisdiction and have represented financial services companies in the Kazakh “onshore” courts. Bakhyt Tukulov represents clients in high-profile commercial disputes concerning Kazakhstan law and has experience acting as an expert in cross-border litigation and arbitration proceedings and Ravil Kassilgov supports international and local clients on tax disputes.
