Position

Although called to the Bar in 2003, Danny has been working in the criminal justice system since he qualified as a police station representative in 2000. He has a reputation for being able to quickly put clients at ease and make them feel comfortable with every stage of proceedings from pre-charge onwards. This approach has earned him praise for the way in which he has dealt with young and vulnerable defendants. His strategic thinking and thorough preparation have enabled him to find the best way through the most challenging of cases.

Danny has represented defendants charged with a variety of  offences including murder, kidnap, serious sexual offences and large-scale multi handed drug  distribution. He has represented youths charged with serious offences including murder, s.18 GBH and armed robbery. Within the arena of financial crime he has represented defendants charged with offences under the proceeds of crime act and offences of fraud including cyber fraud, defrauding banks and boiler room fraud, he also  has experience of obtaining a certificate of inadequacy in the high court.

Career

R v A  – Counsel instructed to represent a defendant  charged along with 9 others with a conspiracy to convert criminal property. He was alleged to be part of an organised crime group which stole and resold high end motor vehicles to the value of £1.5 million. This case was particularly sophisticated as it involved the cloning of car keys and the fraudulent re-registration of motor vehicles.

R v O – Counsel instructed to represent a defendant charged with conspiring with others to supply 32 Kg of cocaine.

R v B – Counsel instructed to represent a defendant charged with the multiple counts of  historic sexual abuse of a child. Currently it would be charged as an assault on a child under 13 by penetration.

R v S –Junior counsel instructed to represent a defendant on a multiple rape indictment on a

female under the age of 16.

R v E – Counsel instructed to represent a 15 year old boy charged with rape against a girl under 16.  Representations successfully made to have the matter diverted away from the criminal justice system.

R v U – Junior Counsel instructed to represent a defendant charged with Fraudulent trading. Promotion, Formation or Management of a company whilst disqualified.

R v C – Counsel instructed to represent a 17 year school girl charged with armed robbery.

R v S – Counsel instructed to represent a defendant accused of fraud by false representation. A total of 9 victims were defrauded of £1.2 million.

R v B – Junior counsel instructed to represent a defendant charged with 2 counts of murder.

Notable Cases

R v H – Counsel instructed to represent a defendant accused of a joint enterprise s.18 GBH. The car in which he was a passenger was driven into a male causing multiple fractures and life changing injuries. Acquitted.

R v I – Leading counsel instructed to represent a defendant accused of a conspiracy to defraud banks and mobile phone companies of £140,000. The defendant was jointly accused with her boyfriend of making false representations to banks and mobile phone companies to obtain phones and cash. Expert evidence relied upon included a voice expert to give evidence regarding recorded telephone conversations. After a 7 week trial, defendant found guilty but conditionally discharged further to mitigation.

R v A – Junior counsel represented one of 7 in a highly sophisticated multi-handed drug dealing conspiracy which was alleged to have earned £2.4 million over the period of the conspiracy. This case had press interest and was widely reported. The defendants were a gang of Brazilians who had set up a highly sophisticated drug dealing network involving safe storage facilities for keeping the drugs, ever changing Airbnb apartments as distribution hubs and motor cycle couriers to deliver the drugs. The defendant was the only one acquitted.

R v A – Counsel instructed to represent a defendant charged with 3 others for the offence of kidnap and blackmail. Old Bailey case. It involved the kidnap of a school boy whose family were contacted and told to pay money to secure the release of their son from a car he was being held in by the defendant and 3 others. Further to a successful half time no case to answer submission, in which it was submitted that the victim had not identified the defendant as a participant, he was acquitted.

R v C – Counsel instructed. Old Bailey case. Money Laundering. Defendant acquitted.

R v M – Junior counsel instructed to represent a youth charged with 8 others of joint enterprise murder. Old Bailey case. This case involved a gang of youths that had allegedly participated in the murder of another youth by stabbing him multiple times in broad day light in central London. The defendant was charged with murder and violent disorder. Acquitted of murder but convicted of violent disorder.
