Career

Alina provides comprehensive and commercially-aware legal advice in a vast and continually evolving range of complex regulatory matters, that require technical knowledge and abilities, pertaining to the gaming and gambling, intellectual property and technology and media fields.

In gaming and gambling, she has been active from the very beginning of the reformation of the Romanian legal framework and is well-versed in dealing with all legal aspects related to the operation of such activities, particularly from a regulatory and technical perspective, but also contentious.

Alina is fully acquainted with the entire spectrum of gambling regulatory, compliance, licensing, technical and operational aspects, enforcement and interpretation of the gaming legislation, business operations or dealings with regulators, with an add-on of multi-jurisdictional approach meant to avoid duplication of legal efforts from the part of the clients (where necessary).

She has assisted several of the world’s largest international online gambling operators and B2B suppliers in obtaining their first online licenses and Class 2 licenses in Romania, respectively, while also providing day-to-day advice on technical, operational and regulatory issues related to their activity in Romania.

Alina regularly advises companies on the full range of intellectual property aspects (covering all types of IP rights and multiple jurisdictions), both contentious (such as disputes over the validity of IP rights, trademark/design/patent/copyright infringement claims or plagiarism, domain names disputes, unfair competition disputes, enforcement and border measures, matters related to trade secrets and know-how) and advisory (worldwide re-branding strategies, IP transactions (including negotiation and management of IP rights, as well as due diligence work that precedes such), IP rights transfers, licensing or franchising, advice on IP portfolio management, including IP strategies, IP evaluation etc.

She is a member of the Romanian Chamber of Trademark, Design and Patent Attorneys (licensed as Trademarks, Designs and Patents Attorney) and a licensed European Trademark and Design attorney with EUIPO.

Complementing her intellectual property and gaming & gambling practice with expertise across other business law areas including anti-money laundry, general commercial & corporate, consumer protection, advertising & media, Alina acts as legal advisor to a diverse client base that includes domestic and multinational companies active in telecommunications and technology, automotive, retail, gambling, IT, FMCG, pharma, media/broadcasting and entertainment.
