Position
Richard is a partner in Boyes Turner’s outstanding medical negligence team.
Richard is deeply committed to making a difference to the lives of severely injured patients and their families. He represents clients who have been brain damaged resulting in cerebral palsy, tetraplegia and PVS, and disabled by spinal injuries, cauda equina and amputation.
Richard’s gentle and compassionate manner with clients is combined with intellectually rigorous use of the legal process to secure early admissions of liability, substantial interim payments and maximum compensation to provide his clients with rehabilitation, housing, education and care.
Career
After obtaining a 2.1 honours degree in biology from University College London in 1987 Richard worked as a negotiator for Anglia Television gaining commercial experience before completing the Law Society conversion course in 1992 and his training contract in 1996. Richard has specialised in claimant clinical negligence work since qualification.
Having first joined Boyes Turner in 1998 Richard became a partner at Boyes Turner specialising in all aspects of medical negligence and in particular cerebral palsy medical negligence cases in 2003. Richard left the partnership in 2008 and rejoined the partnership in April 2016.
Memberships
He is the Honorary Legal Advisor to the Chiltern Centre which provides respite care for disabled children and young adults from Oxfordshire and Berkshire.
Richard is a specialist panel member of Action against Medical Accidents (AvMA) and the Law Society’s Clinical Negligence Panel. He is a member and former regional secretary and coordinator of the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers (APIL).
