Career

Huw is a Partner in our Adverting and Marketing Group. He joined the firm in August 2017 from a top international law firm.

Huw has extensive UK and international experience advising clients on the full spectrum of general commercial related matters including all elements of sales and business development, regulatory investigations, commercial contracts, intellectual property, international distribution, digital, media buying and planning, talent and content acquisition, and sponsorship. He acts for global FMCG brands, national and international platforms, developers, advertising and creative agencies, industry associations, retailers, charities and start-ups in a range of industries.

He has undertaken secondments to key clients including McDonalds, Sara Lee, Heinz (covering the role of European General Counsel for 7 months). On each secondment, he undertook a mix of sales and acquisitions, digital, advertising, IP and general commercial work, assisting various internal departments within those businesses, including sales, business development, marketing, legal, HR and strategy.

Huw also heads up the firm's Inclusion Network and is very interested in diversity and inclusion. He is a founding and current board member of PrideAM, the LGBT network for professionals in the advertising industry, and a founding and current committee member of the LGBT Lawyers Division of the Law Society of England and Wales. Outside of work, he is an Ambassador for Workplace Equality charity, Stonewall, a Member of the Purple Circle of the Albert Kenedy Trust, and the Strategic Advisor for myGwork (the leading online recruitment and networking hub for LGBT professionals and organisations). He is also a trustee for international anti-bullying charity Ditch The Label.

Malcolm Murray leads the team at Lee & Thompson LLP, which specialises in advising clients in the media, technology and creative industries, with clients including BMG Music, Lionsgate and Sony Music. Among other highlights, Murray advised the shareholders of TCB Media Rights on the sale of the company to Toronto-based Kew Media Group, and acted for exhibition and events organiser Angus Montgomery, a longstanding client, on the acquisition of a majority stake in Fit Events; in addition, Oliver Shipton assisted Victoria Beckham Limited with an investment into the company by Neo Investment Partners. The practice has also been strengthened by the arrivals of video games industry expert Julian Ward from Hamlins LLP, Sarah Barker, who focuses on the arts sector, from Montgomery Baker, and advertising and marketing specialist Huw Morris from Reed Smith LLP.
