Career

Martyn is a partner in Lee & Thompson’s Dispute Resolution Group.

Prior to joining the firm in 2016, he spent ten years as a partner at Forbes Anderson Free, a highly respected boutique practice specialising in litigation and dispute resolution. Martyn was previously a partner at The Simkins Partnership (now Michael Simkins) and trained at the city firm, Macfarlanes.

He represents clients in a diverse range of industries including film, music, sport, leisure, investment and private equity, and financial services. Martyn handles disputes on a wide range of legal issues. In particular, he advises on disputes relating to a range of specialist contracts in different industries. He has expertise in copyright, trade mark and passing off including online IP matters. He is experienced in professional negligence and in shareholder, director and partnership disputes. He also advises on regulatory issues.

Martyn has extensive High Court experience including obtaining and defending interim injunction applications. He is also experienced in arbitration, adjudication, the copyright tribunal and mediation. His music industry practice experience includes advising longstanding clients Ministry of Sound, PIAS/Co-Op and the Beggars Group in addition to publishers, artists and managers. In film and television, he acts for UK and US film and television producers, distributors, financiers, agents, writers and actors including GFM Films and SP Sales and Distribution, FilmOn TV, Tony Wood and John Noel Management.
