Position

Fiona is a Partner who heads up our Civil Liberties special interest group in the firm’s Public Law and Human Rights department. She has extensive experience of pursuing claims under the Human Rights Act against local authorities, police forces and the Ministry of Justice. She has a particular interest in claims for vulnerable adults who have been unlawfully deprived of their liberty in care homes or other settings. Additionally, she is frequently instructed to represent bereaved families at inquests and to pursue associated civil claims, as well as claims against police forces for assault and false imprisonment. Fiona also maintains a health and welfare Court of Protection practice where she assists adults who lack capacity in challenging the deprivation of their liberty and representing them in other best interests matters before the court.
