Position

Dr. Balázs Kántor is the Head of the Tax Group at Lakatos, Köves & Partners (LKT) and has been working as a tax advisor and lawyer on the Hungarian aspects of international transactions for many years. Balázs helps LKT’s clients to create the optimal corporate and transaction structures when doing business in Hungary. Thanks to Balázs, LKT operates as a one-stop-shop providing clients with tax advice tailored to the specific legal services, being unusual among law firms in Hungary in fully integrating tax advice into legal work. Balázs works with a world-class cross-practice approach to other areas of law, including employment, real estate, banking and finance, litigation, corporate and risk management.
He advises on tax issues in corporate matters from setting up a business to the daily management of Hungarian operations, specializing in the tax aspects of cross-border M&A and multijurisdictional financing transactions, real property acquisitions, development and asset management, exits and employment, designing finance and tax structures, VAT planning, application of double tax treaties, etc.
His practice is also ranked as a standalone tax practice group by international legal directories.

Lakatos, Köves and Partners’ tax team provides cross-practice support across the firm, working in tandem with the employment, real estate, banking and finance, employment, and corporate groups. The department advises on international holding and finance structures, double taxation treaties and VAT planning for cross-border trading. The team’s practice also covers contentious matters, and it represents clients in tax litigation, inspections and negotiations with the tax authorities. Certified tax advisor Balázs Kántor leads the team, advising on both national and international tax-related matters. Petra Rózsahegyi is a member of both the employment and tax teams, so frequently provides advice straddling the two disciplines.
