Filippo Arena is the Head of the Economic Public Law department and focuses on European law, Administrative Law, Antitrust and Regulation, Consumer Protection, coordinating the firm’s practice areas. He was State Attorney and Secretary General of Italian Competition Authority (AGCM), where he first held the position of Legal Advisor and, subsequently, that of Head of Cabinet. During his professional activity, he has regularly represented the Italian State before the Court of Justice of the European Union in requests for preliminary rulings and infringement procedures. He has held various positions within the State Attorney General and the Ministry of Economic Development where he was also Head of the Legislative Office. He is a speaker at several national and international conferences in the field of Antitrust Law and Administrative Law.

Pietro Bricchetto gained a significant experience in VAT and other indirect taxes. He also acquired important experience in advising banks, financial intermediaries and collective investment funds investing in various types of alternative asset classes. Valentina Canalini

Valentina Canalini

Valentina Canalini is specialized in the energy, transport and infrastructure sectors, assisting clients in corporate and M&A transactions as well as project finance and PPP contracts. She has more than ten years experience in assisting Italian and foreign clients (sponsors, developers, lenders. etc) in the various development phases (authorization proceedings, procurement process, operation and maintenance, etc) and in the financing of numerous infrastructure and energy projects as well as in the sale and purchase of plants for the production of energy, both from renewable and conventional sources. She assists public and private companies in relation to regulatory and administrative aspects in the regulated strategic sectors (including, for example, the legislation on the so-called, golden power). She has recently collaborated on various telecommunications, broadband and 5G operations. Graduated in law with honors from the Università degli Studi of Milan, she attended the University of California Berkeley as a Visiting Scholar in 2007 and achieved a PhD in Corporate law and Financial Markets at the Università di Bologna in 2014. From January 2017 to June 2018 she was appointed as Legal Advisor of the Prime Minister at Palazzo Chigi during the Gentiloni’s Government, where she had the opportunity to collaborate in the drafting and review of the main laws and decrees. Since May 2020, she’s a member of the Board of Directors of Terna S.p.A.. She collaborates with several universities, she is part of numerous “think tank” and she is the author of various legal publications.
Daniel Canola

Daniel Canola

Daniel Canola focuses on corporate and group taxation, IAS/IFRS taxation, national and cross-border M&A and business restructurings. He has also gained significant experience in the taxation of financing transactions and on international tax issues. He is the author of publications on tax matters. He joined GPBL in 2021 following the merger with L&P – Ludovici Piccone & Partners, a firm with which he has worked since 2017. He previously worked with PwC Tax and Legal Services for five years and with another leading international tax law firm for one year. He graduated in Economics at the University of Padua in 2011. Rita Clemente

Rita Clemente

Rita Clemente joined the firm in September 2017. She has gained significant experience in pre-litigation and litigation, including arbitration, in civil and commercial law, specializing in complex disputes in corporate, financial, and banking matters (in particular, M&A transactions, securitizations, challenges to corporate resolutions, shareholders’ agreements, liability of issuers and intermediaries, liability actions against corporate bodies and for management and coordination, banking, financial, and insurance contracts). She also deals with issues of inheritance law and asset management, as well as issues that cut across the Firm’s other practices. She provides advice in civil and corporate matters, mainly to companies and collective investment undertakings. She graduated with honors in March 2001 with a thesis in corporate law from the University of Bari and was admitted to the bar in October 2004. She is currently a member of the Milan Bar Association.

Andrea Gaboardi has been with the Firm since 2018 and has been a Partner of the Firm since 2025.  He is mainly focused in all matters relating to labour law, industrial relations and agency contracts. He advises clients, both domestic and foreign operating in all productive sectors, in all aspects related to these matters with a particular focus on the processes of recruitment, management, reorganisation and restructuring of the workforce, negotiation and assistance of top management, drafting of remuneration policies and stock option plans as well as in litigation matters. Federica Munno joined the Firm in 2023 and deals with corporate law and M&A, with focus on public M&A transactions, regularly advising listed companies, PE funds and financial institutions on corporate extraordinary transactions as well as tender offers. He advises private equity funds in domestic and cross-border complex litigations on corporate acquisition agreements, challenges to corporate resolutions, liability actions, shareholders agreements, bank contracts and procurement contracts. He has also experience in public procurements, real estate and restructuring matters. Admitted to Italian Higher Courts in 2012, Stefano authored monographs and articles on domestic and international civil procedure law and arbitration law and is Member of arbitration panels at the Milan Arbitration Chambers and in ad hoc proceedings. Stefano joined the Firm in 2025, previously he worked for a leading Italian firm where he served as a partner since 2009.
