Career

Giacomo Bonelli mainly deals with Intellectual property matters (including trademarks, patents, and copyright). He also acquired an extensive experience in unfair competition, antitrust, advertising, media, telecommunications, and new technologies law. He assists domestic and international clients in both contentious (with a high rate of winning cases) and non-contentious issues.

He has successfully dealt with some leading cases as well as “Eredi Ponti vs Cassina and Eredi Ponti/Coin case” (a dispute on the protection of design copyright), “The Nintendo’s case” (a dispute on the technical protection measures for video games), “Kiko vs Wjcon case” (a dispute on copyright matters about the concept of commercial chain), “Lottomatica vs Sisal” (a dispute on unlawful competition of the “scratch card”).

He has been a member of the Italian Bar Association since 1985 and he was admitted to practice before the Italian Supreme Court in 2002.

He is author of many publications.

He regularly writes on the IP law matters for prestigious financial and economical Italian newspapers.

He has been invited as an expert of these topics in radio and television programmes.

He is a lecturer in various courses and has had until 2021, for over fifteen years, a regular teaching assignment in the post-graduate IP course for lawyers powered by Just Legal Services – School of Legal Education.
