Career

Cristina is a Member of the Alicante Bar since 1994 and was admitted to the Paris Bar in 1995. She is managing the Alicante Office and became partner of CASALONGA in 2015.

Prior to joining CASALONGA in 1999, Cristina worked in the Banking Sector.

Cristina is a European Trademark and Community Design Attorney and Agente de la Propiedad Industrial (Spanish Patent & Trademark Attorney). She is in charge of all legal matters of many international companies in industrial property cases.

Her practice includes domestic and foreign trademark clearance and prosecution; opposition and appeal procedures concerning EU trademarks and Community designs before the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) in Alicante, as well as before the Spanish Patent and Trademarks Office; counterfeit goods and customs; drafting IP contracts, including license, assignment, and coexistence agreements.

Cristina’s experience includes in particular EU trademarks, Community designs as well Spanish IP matters relating to Spanish, French and English speaking clients.

Cristina also represents clients before the Spanish courts and the Court of Justice of the European Union in EU trademark and design matters.

She represents clients in diverse industries including the pharmaceutical, medical and chirurgical sectors, as well as clothing, video games, electronic products, financial services and telecommunications areas.

Memberships

Cristina is IRCA Certified ISO 9001:2015 lead Auditor for quality management systems and has been participating in 2018 and 2019 at the EUIPO’s SQAP (Stakeholder Quality Assurance Panels Project) involving panels of users, representing user associations, who regularly meet on the Office premises and carry out audits on a sample of Office decisions for the external quality control.

She is the author of numerous articles in EU trademark matters as well as contributions to the European Union Chapter of the World Trademark Yearbook (World Trademark Law Review).

Cristina has been teaching at the Magister Lucentinus on Intellectual Property and Digital Innovation at the University of Alicante since 2011 at the European Union Trademarks Module which takes part at the EUIPO’s premises and at the University of Alicante.

She is actively involved in the European Community Trademarks Association (ECTA) and in the International Trademark Association (INTA).

She has served as Chair of ECTA Law Committee during five years and was a Member of the Supervisory Board. She is currently a Member of the ECTA Harmonization Committee and is the Vice Chair of the ECTA EUIPO-Link Committee. She regularly attends to the Liaison meetings organized by the EUIPO on ECTA’s behalf.

She has been a Member of the INTA EUIPO Sub-Committee for four years, a Member of the Legislation Committee (Europe) for the last two years. She is as a Member of the INTA Enforcement Committee since January 2022 working actively at the Opposition and Cancellation Sub- Committee.

She is also a Member of the Asociación de Antigüos Alumnos del Magister Lucentinus (AAA) and a Member of the Executive Board of the Industrial Property Section of the Alicante Bar.
