Career

Denis Bourgarel is a Partner and Patent Attorney at Plasseraud IP.

Denis has more than 20 years of experience in intellectual property and is a partner at Plasseraud IP since 2016 in the life science team. Denis holds a PhD in microbiology and specialized in the fields of biotechnology, pharmacy and biochemistry. He also advises patent holders in the fields of Plant Variety Rights (PVR) and Supplementary Protection Certificates (SPC). He assists numerous biotech companies and start-ups in their IP strategy and global management of their patent portfolio for maximizing the exclusivity of their development product. Denis also participated in numerous IP due diligences either from investor’s side or for companies for fund raising, IPO or other deals.

Prior to joining Plasseraud IP, Denis worked in the patent department of the pharmaceutical company Novartis Pharma where he conducted due diligence for potential investments and managed a portfolio of patents for biological molecules in the development phase (antibodies and other therapeutic proteins).

Denis joined Plasseraud IP in 2010.
