Position

Julian Lewis is a partner in the corporate department at Fladgate.

He specialises in mergers, acquisitions and joint ventures, private equity and the structuring of transactions in the hotel and leisure, renewables and real estate sectors.

Julian acts for numerous clients including 4C Hotels, Downing LLP, Sanguine Hospitality, New World Private Equity, Lewis Trust Group, Fomento Economico Mexicano, Hydrogen Group, Cabana, Hush Restaurants and Genesis Energy.

An example of a transaction on which he has advised is the sale of Jac Travel Group to Australian listed entity Webjet.

Between 1993 and 2001 Julian was Group Legal Counsel, and from 1998 Group Commercial Director, of Betterware plc (the time of its £126m leveraged buyout).  He returned to the legal profession in 2001 and joined Fladgate in 2008.  He studied law and economics at Cambridge University.

Ian Brent advised a school communication service on its sale to a private equity-backed provider of educational software solutions; Julian Lewis acted for automotive component and system supplier Magal Group on its sale to Arlington Industries; and Graham Spitz advised Zouk Capital on its investments in Green Hedge, InstaVolt and Huddle. SME market specialist David Robinson, Alex Kaufmann, who is particularly experienced in cross-border M&A transactions, and Mythily Katsaris, who co-heads the firm’s India desk, are also noted members of the team.
