Position
Stefan is a seasoned finance and restructuring lawyer and head of our restructuring and insolvency practice. His work ranges from corporate lending, property finance and restructurings. His experience and training as a finance lawyer provides him with a profound understanding of the financial drivers of restructurings and the ability to prepare and negotiate the relevant documentation himself. That skillset sets him apart from insolvency lawyers that are trained as insolvency practitioners. His practice ranges from structuring and drafting finance documents and negotiating and documenting financial restructurings.
Stefan’s pragmatic and solution driven approach has gained him a loyal client base ranging from the major Dutch banks, several leading international banks and some of the world’s largest distressed debt investors.
Stefan regularly publishes in the field of finance and restructuring and sits of the editorial board of HERO, an only legal journal focusing on restructuring and debt revovery.
Career
He started with Van Doorne in 1993 and made partner in January 2002. Stefan worked in the Van Doorne London office from 2001 until July 2004, which he headed from 2002 until his return to Amsterdam in July 2004.
