Jaap litigates against unions and works councils regarding collective employment issues, like company closure, strikes and pension issues. He also deals with individual cases regarding severance and bonus regularly. He further specialises on outsourcing issues and discrimination. Most of his clients are listed companies. Jaap is professor of employment law at the University of Amsterdam since 2003. Jaap is co-editor of Holland’s most used commentary on Dutch employment law, “Tekst & Commentaar Arbeidsrecht” and “Arbeid en Loon”, a book on legal aspects of remuneration.

Stibbe’s digital economy team leverages experts from the firm’s civil and administrative, IT and employment teams to handle a broad range of data issues with particular expertise in cloud contracting work; it recently advised the Dutch State on its move towards cloud computing methods. Judica Krikke leads the department and established the team with employment group head Jaap van Slooten. Astrid Helstone is also recommended for employment-related work and Tom Barkhuysen handles issues combining data and administrative law.
