Career

David graduated from the University of York with First-Class Honours in Law in 2021. He then attended City, University of London, where he undertook a course in Bar Vocational Studies. David was called to the Bar of England and Wales by the Honourable Society of the Middle Temple in 2022 and was admitted as a Barrister of the Supreme Court of Gibraltar in February 2024.

David commenced his training contract with ISOLAS in September 2022, undertaking seats in Litigation, Corporate/Commercial Law, and Property Law. In September 2023, David returned to the Litigation department to assist and work alongside Partner the Honourable Neil F Costa.

David has been involved in a wide range of contentious and non-contentious matters, particularly in public law, including human rights and administrative law, employment law, civil disputes, including contractual and personal injury claims, and criminal litigation.

David has assisted in a number of contentious commercial and civil matters, including contractual disputes, personal injury claims, and breach of contract matters. David has assisted both before and after the issue of proceedings to help achieve satisfactory and cost-effective solutions for clients.

David has assisted in the preparation of criminal defence cases at all stages of the criminal process, from trials to pleas in mitigation and bail applications to appeals against sentence.

David has worked on a diverse range of criminal matters, such as clients charged with possession and intent to supply controlled substances, the escape of oil into Gibraltar waters, and assault.

David has assisted in a number of employment law matters, including employment disputes in the Employment Tribunal.

David has also worked on matters touching on issues of non-discrimination, employment contracts, staff handbooks, and disciplinaries.

David assists Partner the Honourable Neil F Costa, who leads the Human Rights Practice of ISOLAS LLP.

David has assisted in identifying the human rights elements of both contentious and non-contentious matters to ensure that holistic advice can be given to clients, clearly identifying their rights and seeking to minimise potential liabilities.

David assists Partner the Honourable Neil F Costa on a range of non-contentious matters, including in the preparation of lasting powers of attorney, and in respect of applications for planning permission.
