Peru > Banking and finance
Cuatrecasas‘ Peru office has perhaps been a little over-looked with the recent expansion of the firm’s offices in Chile and -particularly in terms of finance- Colombia; nevertheless the Lima operation continues to consolidate its presence, most recently with the hire of corporate, structured and project financing specialist Ana María Sánchez from Rebaza, Alcázar & De Las Casas in February 2022, extending the team’s infrastructure-finance capabilities. She joins a team that seeks to provide comprehensive advisory in the sector, from acquisition, corporate and project finance, to direct lending, refinancing and restructuring, and the incorporation of public investment funds. The team is led by office managing partner Aldo Reggiardo who also has extensive project finance experience; his recent mandates include advising on the structuring of a microfinance program. Primarily involved with in-bound investment, fellow partner and finance specialist Carlos Lasarte handles debt assignments, restructuring, refinancing, and acquisition and corporate finance. Recently promoted partner Kiomi Osorio‘s practice centres on financings and corporate M&A; former fellow senior Victor León Chiri left the firm in March 2022.
Latin America: International firms > Projects and energy
Cuatrecasas has a long history in Latin America and is building its presence there with offices in Mexico, Colombia, Peru and Chile. The firm has a varied practice with a strong record in energy and infrastructure M&A, along with project development and project finance. It has impressive connections to energy corporates, lenders, project sponsors and developers and in one recent headline mandate, advised Spanish power company Naturgy on the sale of Chilean power distributor Compañía General de Electricidad (CGE) to China’s State Grid International Development. Bogota partner Manuel Quinche is experienced in project financings in the infrastructure and power sectors, and advised on the financing of Bogata’s first metro line. Lima’s Aldo Reggiardo is noted for project finance in the renewables, infrastructure and mining segments; Mexico City partner León López is another key figure for project matters.
Latin America: International firms > Banking and finance
Cuatrecasas has continued to develop its pipeline of banking and finance engagements through its increasingly strong offices in Mexico, Peru, Colombia and Chile. The combined team has solid connections to a range of financial institutions, funds and corporate borrowers. The group has landed a series of impressive refinancings and debt restructurings, along with acquisition, project and real estate finance mandates. It is also making an impression in the non-performing loans (NPLs) transactional space. Lima partner Aldo Reggiardo is co-head of the Latin America finance practice and a notable figure in project financings in the energy, infrastructure and mining sectors. Bogota’s Manuel Quinche is another senior name in structured finance and project finance. Previously based in Santiago, Alfonso Ugarte -who focuses on structured finance, bankruptcy restructuring and reorganisations, and distressed financings- relocated to the New York office in September 2022.
