Camilla Søbjerg Nielsen is specialized in insurance law and disputes in the field of insurance law, torts and contract law. Camilla holds a PhD degree in insurance law from the University of Copenhagen.

In 2020 Camilla was appointed as acting high court judge at the Eastern High Court.

Camilla assists insurance companies and insurance distributors in Denmark and abroad regarding regulatory insurance law and compliance, including the financial regulation of life and non-life insurance companies and insurance distributors, as well as the regulation of distribution of insurance products within the EU/EEA.

Furthermore, Camilla is experienced in executing portfolio transfers and advices on the insurance regulatory aspects of setting up insurance distributors, M&A transactions and mergers of insurance companies and insurance distributors, respectively, including cross-border activities in the EU/EEA.

Camilla assists insurance companies and corporate customers in all types of cases concerning non-life insurance and reinsurance, including contract reviews and disputes.

Camilla’s experience also includes cases on professional liability, as well as contractual disputes regarding company pension schemes. Camilla also assists the state and other public institutions on matters concerning liability, self-insurance and recourse claims.

Finally, Camilla has contributed to some of Bech-Bruun’s most significant court proceedings on damages and insurance.
