Career

Diego is a partner with a successful track record of providing guidance on M&A transactions, infrastructure projects, commercial agreements and real estate transactions.

He has advised clients on a variety of acquisitions and investments in industries such as agribusiness, auto parts, banking, education, fintech, healthcare, logistics, plastics, renewable energy, technology, and telecom.

Diego also has experience on infrastructure projects and is currently advising a Brazilian client in the structuring, financing and development of a USD 800 million renewable diesel plant in Paraguay, one of the largest infrastructure projects in the history of the country. He is used to drafting and negotiating complex commercial documents such as engineering, procurement and construction agreements.

In real estate, he advises foreign clients on the acquisition of rural properties for forestry purposes and on the management of these assets. He also advises on the acquisition of urban properties and related matters such as the drafting of lease and mortgage agreements.

A Brazilian national with strong international background, Diego has already worked both in Asia and in the United States. He has recently worked for Duane Morris & Selvam LLP in Singapore for the period of one year (2018), where he was involved in transactions with clients from Singapore, China, India, Malaysia, Indonesia, Japan, the Philippines and Myanmar. Upon his return from Asia, Diego is now an active member of the firm’s China Desk. Earlier in his career, Diego also worked at the legal department of the International Monetary Fund, in Washington, D.C. (2010-2011).

Since 2019, Diego is a Judge at the Rio Grande do Sul State Bar Association’s Ethics Tribunal. He is also a member of the Rio Grande do Sul State Bar Association’s Arbitration Committee.
